About

One-of-a-kind, handcrafted, artistic furniture designed and assembled in a small one-man Oregon workshop. Juniper, myrtle wood, western pine, and exotic hardwoods are some of the character species used to showcase the inherent beauty of wood. Combining meticulous, old fashion woodworking methods with the classic traditions of western, hand- hewn quality products. Inlay accents applied to tabletops with full- scribe mortise and tenon assembly techniques elevate these furnishings to a higher standard of craftsmanship. Sanded to a smooth touch finish with multiple coats of oil or lacquer. Each example of wood art is a source of pride and beauty for years to come. The proprietor / builder of Ye Olde Woodsmith is Bob Van Dell, a third-generation carpenter who started his apprenticeship under his master craftsman uncle in 1977. After moving to Oregon in the early 1990s Bob started working with indigenous Northwest woods like juniper and myrtle wood. The unusual shapes and colors found in these materials yield unique, unequaled furniture.
